Our summer kicked off with a wonderful trip back to Duluth for seven days. Other than the fact that our connecting flights from Minneapolis to Duluth both ways had some hiccups and the fact that Lance was unable to come with us, the trip was great. Reed had been in our area climbing Mt. Hood with friends and was able to fly back to Minnesota with us, which was a big help. Our first full day in Minnesota started off with a roller skating party at a local rink with my parents, Pat and his family, and Angela (Reed had to work). Everyone skated and had a blast. My girls keep asking to go back. The next day we pretty much just enjoyed being at the lake fishing and swimming and of course enjoying my mom's cooking. On our third day we watched Angela and Reed run past the Mile 21 marker of Grandma's marathon. They both finished the marathon averaging about 12-minute miles. Way to go you two! After the marathon we once again enjoyed time at the lake with all of the family. That was pretty much the theme of the visit: family time and water time, perfect! My mom and I took the girls to Enger tower one morning. We all really enjoyed seeing the flowers and lake views. The girls also enjoyed ringing the peace gong. (Can you believe it has been almost ten years since Lance and I got married there?). As always, our visit went way too fast, and it was difficult to say goodbye to everyone.
Fun at the roller skating rink.
